One of the most tragic and well-known incidents of an aircraft being deliberately flown into a skyscraper is the September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States.
On that day, a group of terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners. They deliberately crashed two of these planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City.

A third plane, American Airlines Flight 77, was crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers fought the hijackers, preventing it from reaching its target in Washington, D.C.
The attacks resulted in the deaths of 2,977 victims (not including the 19 hijackers) and more than 6,000 people were injured. It stands as the deadliest terrorist attack in world history and had a profound impact on international relations, global security policies, and counter-terrorism efforts worldwide.
